Varicose Veins Explained

Pleased to make yet another appearance on KSL’s Studio 5 with Brooke Walker, Dr. Jensen discussed the nature of and treatments for varicose veins.

The causes of varicose veins have to do with genetics and with lifestyle. Veins can become sluggish or blocked, causing pooling in the veins. When those veins no longer work properly, they can slow circulation and start to bulge. Blocked veins can range from unsightly spider veins to painful varicose veins. The pain and discomfort can really slow you down and affect the quality of your everyday life. But, you don’t have to suffer!
The treatment for varicose veins is simple and virtually painless. In fact, Dr. Jensen claims, “It is so easy that it’s silly for anyone to avoid!” Dr. Jensen uses a procedure called Endovenous Ablation. It may be used for cosmetic purposes, but it is most commonly used to help alleviate related symptoms such as aching, swelling, skin irritation, discoloration, or inflammation. Endovenous ablation is safe, less invasive than conventional surgery, and leaves virtually no scars. To perform the operation, Dr. Jensen inserts a tiny, image-guided laser into the vein which “zaps” it, or cauterizes it, from the inside. This eliminates the vein altogether, eliminating the problem! The appointment doesn’t take long and is an in-office procedure. A few needle pokes, a few jokes, and you are done! You get back to life right away without the troubled veins.
