The spare tire. The beer belly. The muffin top. You know what we are talking about and it’s not pretty. Lugging that bulging belly around isn’t any fun either. Here at Dr. Joseph Jensen’s office, we can help you win the battle of the bulge with our state-of- the-art procedures–let’s discuss these awesome options in body contouring.
If you’ve done some research, you know that there are a TON of procedures out there for you to choose from for fat reduction or removal. No doubt that Tummy Tuck, Liposuction, SmartLipo and CoolSculpting® have come up in your searches, but perhaps there is still confusion about which is right for you? We will explain the differences here, to help you in deciding what is best for you!

Tummy Tuck

The tummy tuck is a surgical option for excess skin and fat removal that produces dramatic and amazing results! Tummy tuck is a major operation and offers major reconstruction for your midsection. It is excellent for those who have drooping bellies, extra skin and loose abdominal muscles. Those are the exact issues this surgery was designed to address all at once. Dr. Jensen’s expert surgical skills will be put to work, removing that excess fat and sagging skin. He can even tighten up those atrophied and loose abs. This option requires some downtime to recover, but it will be well worth it.

SmartLipo and Traditional Liposuction

Liposuction has been around for a while and is a proven surgical technique for fat removal. SmartLipo is similar to traditional liposuction. The difference in SmartLipo and Liposuction is that with SmartLipo, before suctioning out the fat cells, laser energy is delivered to the treatment area. This renders three major benefits. First, more fat cell removal is achieved than with traditional liposuction because the laser energy results in fat cell death. Second, small vessels in the treatment zone are coagulated which results in significantly less bruising, which in turn results in less swelling and pain and a quicker final result. The last benefit of using laser augmentation of liposuction is the effect of skin tightening which obviously leads to a much nicer cosmetic result. Both standard liposuction and SmartLipo have their place in body contouring.

CoolSculpting®

CoolSculpting is an exciting technology which provides permanent fat removal without any surgery. It is a procedure performed in the office with the patient completely awake. It is an almost painless procedure. The CoolSculpting machine literally freezes the undesired fat cells without injuring any of the surrounding tissue. One of the most attractive attributes of CoolSculpting is that there is NO DOWNTIME! A person can resume normal activities after a session of CoolSculpting. No one has to ever know. Patients can leave the office after a treatment and go straight back to what they would normally do. There is no need for a compressive garment for a month. There is very little post-procedural discomfort.
All of these treatment modalities are very different but very useful and powerful tools in body contouring. Dr. Jensen is a board certified general surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He is an expert in these modalities. He knows what is the best tool for you and your body.
